Petition Action

Generically Rebrand the Turing Scheme

Petition Details

Alan Turing, helped to crack the Enigma codes and invent modern computer science.

He was also Gay, at 40 he accepted Chemical Castration for his "crime"

In 1954 he died from cyanide poisoning.

He was treated appallingly, so a petition to posthumously pardon him was welcome.

Additional Information

It's not a fitting tribute to name the replacement for the Erasmus Scheme, after Alan Turing.

This scheme, which falls way, way short of the support offered under Erasmus has his name attached to it.

I'm pretty sure that most people who quite rightly revere Alan Turing find it unacceptable. I'm sure that Mr Turing himself would be appalled.

I request this scheme be "generically rebranded" so that his good name is not besmirched by being linked with this poor substitute for Erasmus.
