Referendum ~ Scotland ~ Scots ~ Scottish Independence ~ UK ~ United Kingdom
The Union flag should be preserved, regardless of the outcome of the Scottish independence referendum
Regardless of the result of the Scottish independence referendum , the government should protect the Union Flag, and ensure it remains the national flag of the United Kingdom.
If Scotland leaves the UK, it does not change the history of the UK, and Scotlands contribution to it.
Nor does it change the fact that, post independence, almost 1 million Scots would still live in the UK.
Aside from the ongoing relevance Scots have and would have to the UK in a post independence scenario, there is another clear symbolic meaning the Scottish `blue` can be taken to have-the historic and ongoing importance of the sea to this maritime nation.
For this reason, and reasons of history, The Union Flag must stand, unmutilated.
