Make it a legal requirement for all vets to scan microchips for stolen pets
With the rise in stolen pets and the legal requirement to have all pets microchipped I would like the government to make it law that any animal that comes into a vetenary practice has their microchip scanned to check the pet is not stolen.
The fact that all animals become ill at a certain point in their lives it will mean that any stolen dogs will be returned to their rightful families. The fact this is a legal requirement it could also act as a deterant to both theives and people purchasing that do not have the proper paperwork.
Also I think that the government in addition to this should consider making it a legal requirment for dogs or cats to only be sold with the correct microchip transfer papers either.
