Protect Our Right to Protest
Government and Parliament must oppose the new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill that unnecessarily criminalises the publics right to protest. They must instead enforce the Charter For Freedom of Assembly Rights as endorsed by Netpol: https://netpol.org/Charter/
Government and Parliament must oppose this Bill in all its forms.
They must acknowledge and denounce the authoritarian nature of this Bill, that gives police unjustified power to criminalise any public protest due to its deliberately vague language.
They must acknowledge and denounce the deliberate infringement upon the publics right to protest. As well as the disturbing implications of criminalising protests in support of the rights of protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.
