Petition Action

Against the implementation of new Anti-Protest law

Petition Details

Reject the new anti-protest laws brought by Priti Patel
Do not make Priti Patel the sole enactor of this law, allowing her and only her to decide to change this law at any time without scrutiny from parliament

Additional Information

It would undermine the democratic fundamentals of this country. Freedom of speech is a human right, without protests Patel would not even have her position in society today, without freedom of protest women would not have the right to work and vote, without freedom of protest gay marriage would never have been legalised and so many more. Protests are essential in shaping our society in the right direction, by changing social norms and values.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/579242

We're not aware of any proposals to allow the Home Secretary to change the law without reference to Parliament, but if there are specific provisions of the Bill you'd like to change then you could start a petition on those.
