Cut all items in 'Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill' not in the manifesto

Petition Details

The Home Secretary claims that the 'Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill' is a manifesto policy which therefore automatically has public assent. However much of this bill was NOT in the conservative manifesto on which they were elected, and therefore these aspects should immediately be removed.

Additional Information

Simply put because it is fundamentally untrue that the Home Secretary (and other government ministers) are trying to say that the public voted for this bill. The only aspects in their manifesto were tougher sentencing for serious crimes and greater police powers for the policing of traveller sites. We did NOT agree to curtail our right to protest, we did NOT agree to be arrested for being "annoying", and we did not agree that the Home Secretary should be able to decide when someone is too noisy!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about some provisions of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, but we're not sure exactly what provisions you would like to be removed from this Bill.

We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:

Do not restrict our rights to peaceful protest: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/579012

Do not pass the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/579242

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what provisions of this Bill you want to be removed.
