Create a Fact Checking service that presides over Parliament
Misinformation is pervasive in the modern world, whether that be on social media or from trusted sources. As social media companies are taking sizeable steps to validate claims and highlight inconsistencies, it feels appropriate to ensure our parliamentary debates receive similar scrutiny.
Misinformation provides the electorate with a flawed picture of critical issues, and biases decision making. Ensuring that facts presented to Parliament are correct, false or debatable means that greater public trust can be put in parliamentary decisions and debates.
Resistance to this scrutiny would be counter to our democratic process. Having an a-political service of fact checking is centred on how our country makes informed decisions based on facts and data.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure what you mean by 'presides over Parliament' and how this service would work.
The House of Commons library provides an impartial research service. You can find out more here - commonslibrary.parliament.uk/
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
