A call for a new IMMIGRATION & ASYLUM AMNESTY

Petition Details

To grant the first BREXIT and POST COVID-19 immigration and asylum amnesty to help clear all asylum claims and pending asylum and immigration appeals, to clear their back log whcih was accumulating as a result of administrative delays cause by COVID-19 for appeals registered on or before 31/03/2021.

Additional Information

Home Office case workers are struggling to clear back log of cases that have not received an initial decision since lodging of applications by aslyum seekers on or before 30 March 2016. Courts cases are piling up and waiting for immigration judges to take on such work which is going to cost the treasury a huge amount of money. This amnesty is a win-win situation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the backlog of asylum and immigration claims, but we're not sure if you would like the Government to grant asylum to everyone with an existing claim, and grant whatever decisions is being sought to everyone currently appealing an immigration decision, or take some other action.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Grant an urgent Amnesty to Undocumented Migrants living in the UK: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/567681

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
