Ban pork sausages in school meals due to their carcinogenic properties
In order to meet its own commitment to provide "healthy, tasty and nutritious food" (School Food in England, March 2019), the government must consider banning the use of processed meat (sausage, bacon, salami) in school meals.
WHO classify processed meat (sausages, bacon, salami) in the Group 1 carcinogen category, this is the same category as tobacco products.
There is much government produced literature detailing their wish to promote "good nutritional health" and "good eating behaviour" (School Food in England, March 2019). So why then are items which have been scientifically proven to have a causal link to cancer, often available for children to consume? It must stop, now.
