Petition Action

Introduce Mental Health & Wellbeing to the statutory national curriculum.

Petition Details

I am calling for the Government to future-proof our nation by educating Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 on how to maintain, manage and improve mental health and wellbeing. Physical Education (PE) has been statutory for many years and the Department for Education should hold mental health in the same regard.

Additional Information

– Almost 19,000 children admitted to hospital for harming themselves in 2015: https://bit.ly/3lSgOsv

– In a class of thirty 15-year-olds, 3 could have a mental disorder and 6 could be self-harming: https://bit.ly/3sqgQdn

– Annually, 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem. In a lifetime: 1 in 5 have suicidal thoughts, 1 in 14 self-harm and 1 in 15 attempt suicide: https://bit.ly/3lYxX3B

Build empathy. Build resilience. Build Britain.
