Please reconsider the decision to end virtual meetings for Councils
Government has announced that emergency powers to allow councils to hold meetings virtually during the pandemic will end. This is a backwards step, and will have a negative impact of access to democracy and discriminates against thousands of councillors - the young, shielding, and the vulnerable.
Extend the current Powers until september to allow for the results of the consultation to be carefully considered rather than just making this decision with the benefits of understanding the positive impact that this has had.
Given Councils the power to choose what meetings could be virtual.
