Help poorer countries by sharing surplus vaccines once priority groups are done
Once all vulnerable people and key workers are vaccinated, the UK government should donate vaccines to poorer countries. Until we have high vaccination rates across the globe, we are all vulnerable to mutations and new outbreaks. We've a moral obligation to protect all high risk groups globally.
To date, 450 million doses have been administered worldwide - an average of 5.3 p/100 people. In practice this varies hugely. The WHO said "the world is on the brink of a catastrophic moral failure" as doses follow wealth not need. 48.4 p/100 adults in the UK have received their first dose compared with 0.4 p/100 in South Africa. GB needs to promote COVAX, WTO strategies as well as donating surplus vaccines to those in need. Global Britain should lead a global response for global recovery.
