Petition Action

Adjust the threshold income for child benefit from individual to household.

Petition Details

To change the threshold from a single income to a household income figure

Additional Information

It’s frustrating that a household can have two parents incomes of just under £50k and be entitled to child benefit yet another household could have parents income of just over £60k and a low earner and not be entitled to the benefit, yet are on a lower income than the other household. This should be changed to a higher household cap which would be a fair way to ensure the benefit is paid on equal entitlement and on level incomes.
