back a moratorium on seabed mining
To back a moratorium on deep seabed mining until more research has been done to evaluate the possible environmental impact this may have.
The move towards electric cars requires minerals to make the batteries that come from a small number of countries, hence companies are looking to mine deep seabeds. Little research has been done to date of what effects this can have on marine environment. More time needs to be given for research to continue before embarking on deep seabed mining.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure whether you want a UK moratorium on deep sea mining, or for the UK Government to work internationally on a global ban.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
