Review the current legislation regarding Category BE of driving licence.
Driving licences issued after 1997 no longer automatically include BE towing entitlement.
The current laws don't make sense eg. I can pull a caravan or a trailer in a fiesta but not in a safer 4x4 due to weight restrictions in the current laws. Either BE should apply for all trailer towing or none.
Post pandemic- younger people are unable to avail of work in the rural community where they are being asked to tow a trailer.
Post pandemic we are encouraging more people to spend more money at home- people are buying caravans and cannot tow them due to the restrictions.
The current guidelines are outdated. The combined weight calculation of 3500kg MAM could be reconsidered to current vehicle weights and safety capabilities as these have changed since 1997.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do to change Category BE.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
