GP surgeries should be stopped to ask for payment for providing medical letters
GP surgeries often ask for payment for providing medical letters to some of the most vulnerable patients. For many patients , being asked to pay up to £48 for a letter to prove their medical condition can lead to greater stress, anxiety, and a feeling of hopelessness. Medical letters must be free.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.
The Government aren't responsible for GP charges such as letters, which is an operational matter for individual GP surgeries.
You could start a petition calling for the Government to introduce a scheme for people to be able to reclaim the cost letters from GPs, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
