Ban fruit and vegetable cosmetic standards set by retailers
Make illegal the unethical implementation of fruit and vegetable cosmetic / aesthetic regulations set by domestic supermarket retail firms like Tesco, Waitrose, Asda, Aldi and Sainsbury's which leads to 'ugly' and specific sized produce being disregarded and thrown away.
A third of fruit and vegetables are thrown away annually in the UK due to shops considering them to be mishappen.
40% (4.5 million tonnes) of the UK's food waste is created alone by farmers being forced to throw away food considered imperfect due to their physical appreance.
Food can be cheaper for consumers if more of it is accepted and available for purchase, not thrown away during production. Consumers have become more willing to purchase such food after understanding their effect.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Decisions on which products to display and sell are a matter for retailers.
