Hold Social Media Companies Accountable and punish them accordingly.
To hold social media companies accountable for not doing enough to help prevent hate, racism, homophobia, transphobia as well as bullying. Introduce fines to these companies for not protecting its users.
Every year we hear of social media companies making billions in profit. However rising is the amount of abuse people face using these platforms. Myself and thousands of other have been a subject to hate online. Even when reporting these hateful comments they have not been removed and deemed acceptable when reported.
There is a well known history of people having committed suicide because of online bullying, we need to make a stand now and protect each other and for those who have children.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about online abuse, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We could accept a petition requesting new requirements be imposed on social media companies, but it would need to be clear what new requirements you wanted.
