Protect the UK against Covid variants by following the latest science.
Please offer UK citizens an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine. At the very least, offer an alternative to UK citizens who have family in South Africa or Brazil. We now know that AstraZeneca's vaccine fails to protect against the South African and Brazilian Covid variants (10% efficacy).
We expect the virus to continue mutating; and we should update our vaccine defences accordingly. Given the latest data, the first update should happen now. All citizens should be protected. However, it is particularly urgent that we protect those who are most exposed. This is both to protect these citizens, and to protect against catastrophic onward transmission.
