Increase funding from local authorities for care home placements
Make it a requirement that local authorities look into realistic costings for care placements which increase yearly with the cost of living. Local authorities aren't offering realistic funding which means that people are being forced from their homes to live somewhere "cheaper".
Funding for dementia care by local authorities is not realistic meaning that once a person can't self-fund, they are being removed from a home they have lived in for several years to go somewhere "cheaper". For people living with dementia this is detrimental to their health. Families are forced into making decisions that they shouldn't be faced with. Local authorities should offer realistic funding based on the cost of living. It's about time they saw people as individuals and not cost saving.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about existing provision for local authority provided care, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. It's not clear if you want the Government to increase funding for care home provision, or create new rights for local residents to access care.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
