Prevent a ‘European Super League’ being formed
Discuss the effects and consequences on the current domestic after forming a breakaway league. Discuss sanctions against British clubs for signing up to the breakaway league. Parter with the FA and UEFA to decide on
disciplinary action for the owners and chairmen/woman of the clubs in question.
Football is the biggest sport in the UK, and a vast majority of the population identify with the game. It’s an MPs job to represent the ideas and views of the people that voted to elect them, and if the views of the people are to NOT sign up for a breakaway league, then MPs should represent this idea in Parliament.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand you're concerned about English clubs joining the proposed European Super League, however since you started your petition the Government has clearly expressed its opposition to the plans and the six participating English clubs have all withdrawn, as you may know.
On Monday 19 April the Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden MP said that he was appalled by the announcement that a handful of clubs are proposing to form their own breakaway European league, ands said the Government would not hesitate to protect one of our greatest national institutions: football. The Culture Secretary said that the Government would back the football authorities to stop this move, and if the football authorities couldn’t act, the Government would. The Culture Secretary said the Government would "put everything on the table to prevent this from happening."
