Block UK based football clubs from joining the proposed European Super League
To prevent UK based football clubs from leaving the Premier League and joining the proposed European Super League.
Football is a social good and must be protected by the government. The UK premier league is one of the UK's most valuable exports and provides tens of thousands of jobs throughout the UK. After Brexit we must build a new national identity and the Premier League should be a big part of that. Football is our game and one of our most important cultural assets. We should not allow it to be so fundamentally altered and damaged by foreign parties who have little interest in the well being of our society.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
On Monday 19 April the Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden MP said that he was appalled by the announcement that a handful of clubs are proposing to form their own breakaway European league, ands said the Government would not hesitate to protect one of our greatest national institutions: football. The Culture Secretary said that the Government would back the football authorities to stop this move, and if the football authorities couldn’t act, the Government would. The Culture Secretary said the Government would "put everything on the table to prevent this from happening."
