Stop the European Super League to save english football and local economies
I speak on behalf of all fans across the United Kingdom, that we want the government to give us guaranteed backing that they will prevent the biggest clubs joining the controversial European Super League.
The government are in a middle of a pandemic with the economy in decline, no doubt that that Premier League brings in millions if not billions of pounds into the economy. This is needs to be addressed to stop us from losing money in a time of great financial difficulties. Football is a part of European culture, people live and breathe for it and to see it taken away from the rich people that do not understand what football means to us is like losing your dog that was your best friend suddenly.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
On Monday 19 April the Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden MP said that he was appalled by the announcement that a handful of clubs are proposing to form their own breakaway European league, ands said the Government would not hesitate to protect one of our greatest national institutions: football. The Culture Secretary said that the Government would back the football authorities to stop this move, and if the football authorities couldn’t act, the Government would. The Culture Secretary said the Government would "put everything on the table to prevent this from happening."

Since you started your petition it has also been announced that all six Premier League teams that were initially involved in the European Super League have withdrawn. You can read a report of this news here: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56823501
Further, on 19 April the Government announced a 'Fan-led review of football governance', which will explore ways of improving the governance, ownership and financial sustainability of clubs in English football, building on the strengths of the football pyramid.
