The European Super League is bad for British Football, it must be stopped.
These six British clubs are assets of Britain and football in this country. They cannot be abused as a cash cow by their foreign ownership. Their participation in a European Super League would have disasterous consequences for English football and for the Premier League which is also an U.K. asset.
The six clubs are part of the fabric of English football and their foreign ownership must be curtailed and changed to a model similar to the German model of 50+1 fan ownership so fans have a say in how their clubs a run and these decisions cannot be made purely for the basis of profit and not sporting merit. It is the government’s job to protect the fans of these 6 clubs and others not being taking advantage of by their ownership.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
On Monday 19 April the Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden MP said that he was appalled by the announcement that a handful of clubs are proposing to form their own breakaway European league, ands said the Government would not hesitate to protect one of our greatest national institutions: football. The Culture Secretary said that the Government would back the football authorities to stop this move, and if the football authorities couldn’t act, the Government would. The Culture Secretary said the Government would "put everything on the table to prevent this from happening."

Since you started your petition it has also been announced that all six Premier League teams that were initially involved in the European Super League have withdrawn. You can read a report of this news here: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56823501
Further, on 19 April the Government announced a 'Fan-led review of football governance', which will explore ways of improving the governance, ownership and financial sustainability of clubs in English football, building on the strengths of the football pyramid.
