Provide Festivals with Government-Backed Insurance Scheme so they can go ahead
Festivals are having to cancel due to not having a government-backed insurance scheme. They need a safety net in case they have to cancel. Festivals are a major part of millions of people’s lives and not being able to go two years in a row is damaging.
Other countries have provided such schemes for festivals such as Denmark, Germany, Norway, The Netherlands, Austria and Belgium.
In 2019, festivals contributed £1.8bn to the UK economy, and over five million people attended.
Germany has put in place government-backed insurance for festivals, and said to miss out on these events to other countries "would be a crying shame".
