Reform football club ownership in the UK
Parliament to introduce legislation to protect football clubs from extreme commercial exploitation by wealthy owners.
Football (soccer) is our national game and the recent move by certain Clubs to form a European Super League would have damaged the game irreparably. The move was designed to benefit a few Clubs to the detriment of the many. Football Clubs are the heart of communities and need legal protection so they can flourish and endure for generations to come.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about governance of football clubs, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
Enforce the “50+1” Rule for professional football club ownership in the UK: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/583310
Further, on 19 April the Government announced a 'Fan-led review of football governance', which will explore ways of improving the governance, ownership and financial sustainability of clubs in English football, building on the strengths of the football pyramid.
