Vote to endorse the credentials of the elected government of Myanmar at the UN.
We ask the UK government to vote yes to recognising the representative of Myanmar’s democratically elected government, the National Unity Government, at the UN General Assembly credentials vote, and reject the military junta’s illegal bid to speak and act for the people of Myanmar.
On Feb 1, Myanmar’s military attempted to seize power from the democratically elected government and dissolved parliament. Elected MPs have since formed the National Unity Government (NUG) to continue to represent the people.
The NUG has the support of Myanmar’s existing Permanent Representative. The General Assembly will consider credentials of any representative sent by the military in August. We ask that the UK endorse the NUG credentials, and reject the military’s claim to represent Myanmar.
