Petition Action

Place UAE on green list with home quarantine + early release for vaccinated.

Petition Details

UK citizens arriving from the UAE should be allowed to quarantine from home, due to the wide availability of PCR tests before flying (being able to complete and receive results 48 hours before travel). Additionally, vaccinated individuals should be allowed early release after home PCR test.

Additional Information

The UAE has provided a successful vaccination program and a significant amount of the population has been vaccinated. Whilst this proposed action would be good for the 240,000 expats in the UAE, thousands of teachers and families are are part of this group and would like to travel to UK during the summer holidays - many of whom have not traveled to the UK or seen family for over a year. The hotel quarantine is not suitable for those who have property in the UK and are able to isolate at home.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about travel restrictions on people arriving in the UK from the UAE, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. If the UAE was made a green list country, there would be no need for travellers to quarantine unless they tested positive for Covid-19.

You could start a new petition make it clear whether you want the UAE to be made a green list country, or something else.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
