reopen GP's to face to face consultations

Petition Details

It is virtually impossible to obtain a face to face appointment with a GP. You can have face to face treatment with an optician and a dentist, you can even have a Covid 19 injection by a GP!

But you cannot get a face to face surgery appointment with a GP.

Additional Information

You have to go through the current (flawed) NHS triage system to even get to speak to or see a nurse or doctor. This triage is conducted by the reception staff who are not medically trained and are hopefully bound by privacy rules

The system being adopted by the NHS is deeply flawed and extremely unpopular and has been sneaked in under cover of the Covid 19 pandemic.

This policy should be reversed immediately for the good health of the taxpayers of this nation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Government guidance allows for GPs to see patients face-to-face if necessary: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/social-distancing/using-the-nhs-and-other-health-services/.

Whether a GP invites patients to attend an appointment in person is a clinical decision for them, their surgery, and the Clinical Commissioning Group to which they belong, not the UK Government or Parliament.
