Provide children in UK schools with self defence classes
I was 13 when I was first made to feel unsafe in the street. For all women, worrying about street harassment escalating is an every day worry. The government must step in to help young people learn how to defend themselves.
97% of women aged 18-24 have said that they have been sexually harassed in a public space.
We cannot look away from this.
If we provide young people with the skills they need to defend themselves, then they can feel more confident going about their every day lives.
Making self defence classes accessible to all would also be beneficial to all LGBTQ+ people, in a time where hate crimes are on the rise.
