Metastatic melanoma cancer
Provide more Funding & Awareness for Metastatic Melanoma Cancer to aid long overdue progress in earlier detection and, ultimately, improved survival rates
Responsible department: Department of Health
Skin cancer is so misunderstood, my husband who was considered very healthy tragically died at the age of 45. A low risk mole was removed 3 years ago from my husbands back in 2010, we both thought nothing of it then and I desperately wish now the severity of that mole. The news that the cancer had spread shook us to the core 2 and a half years later after numerous biopsies my beautiful husband was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma cancer advanced skin cancer, May 2013. It is a fast growing cancer among young people and needs to be made more aware through funding and highlighting the enormous dangers of sunbathing and use of sun beds.
Any diagnosis of skin cancer needs to be followed up for at least 5 years with bloods tests and close monitoring.
