Don’t close schools for voting. Find other venues for polling stations!
For some reason schools are used as polling stations. This often means school closure and kids sent home.
It must be possible to organise elections without disrupting our children’s education and causing disruption to parents.
Pass a law to stop schools being used as polling stations.
If we as a country value education then we should do our best to keep kids in school.
Why then do so many schools turf out kids at elections to “make way” for voters?
Why are the pupils of state schools disadvantaged by elections they cannot take part in?
There are many other venues - libraries, post offices, village halls, and council offices which could be used as polling stations without disrupting our children’s education.
The use of schools as polling stations should be a last resort.
