Reform the voting system to allow people to vote for the policies and parties
People don't agree with all the policies of the party they are voting for, but they have no other choice with the current system we have. Let the people have a say in the rules that govern our lives instead of just choosing a small group of people that decide them for everyone else.
People should be allowed to vote for the policies not just the parties. Create a list of 10 or more multiple choice questions that can be added to the voting slip. Should recycling be a legal requirement? Do you want the police to focus more on stopping knife crime or sexual assault? Do you want more CCTV? Choices on the type of relationship we want with the EU? What type of trade deal we want with the US? Should drug addiction be treated as a health issue?

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
We understand you'd like to see a more active role for UK citizens in policymaking, but we're not sure how you think the Government should try to achieve this. Your petition suggests adding multiple choice questions to voting slips, but we're not sure how you think these questions should be agreed.
You could start a new petition calling for the Government to put forward proposals on moving towards a direct democracy model, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
