Reform the voting system to allow people to vote for the policies and parties
People don't agree with all the policies of the party they are voting for, but they have no other choice with the current system we have. Let the people have a say in the rules that govern our lives instead of just choosing a small group of people that decide them for everyone else.
People should be allowed to vote for the policies not just the parties. Create a list of 10 or more multiple choice questions that can be added to the voting slip. Should recycling be a legal requirement? Do you want the police to focus more on stopping knife crime or sexual assault? Do you want more CCTV? Choices on the type of relationship we want with the EU? What type of trade deal we want with the US? Should drug addiction be treated as a health issue?

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you want people to be able to vote for parties as well as elected representatives, but it's not clear how what you're proposing would work in practice. For example, it's not clear how the questions that are put to the vote would be chose, and whether you want this to apply to all elections.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly how you would like people to be able to vote on policies.
