Petition Action

Refund schools the Exam Board fees for 2020 & 2021 and pay staff for marking

Petition Details

Exam boards are charging schools for exams- exams that haven’t even gone ahead!
Teachers have put together all materials and reporting for 2020 & 2021 exams and as such schools should not have to pay exam boards.

Their fee should go back to the schools to pay for the increased staff workload

Additional Information

Schools and teachers have been expected to make, print, distribute, mark, moderate, and report on exam papers. This is all usually done by exam boards and PAID examiners (only some exam boards have paid furlough to their examiners)

School staff are used to being under funded and unappreciated but to be paying exam boards so that we can do their job for them is simply unacceptable.

Return exam board fees to the schools to pay for the reprographics bill, increased staff workload and more.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

Decisions about refunding exam fees are a matter for individual exam boards, not the Government or House of Commons. As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to reimburse schools for exam board fees for the last two academic years, if that's what you want to happen.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
