CMS Should be calculated on disposable income.
Fair calculation of Child Maintenance payments, also including resident parents income, whether it be benefits or salary. Both parents are responsible for supporting the children.
Child maintenance payments should be calculated after income tax, rent, council tax, electricity bills, water bills. As these would be paid by parents living together before the children get any support. A roof over your child's head is more important than any other luxuries. Seperated parents shouldn't have to have a lesser life because of a breakdown in a relationship, for example a non-resident paying parent shouldn't have to pay 40% of their wages to support a child, its extortionate.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about current arrangements for calculating child maintenance, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. It's clear you want child maintenance payments to be calculated based on disposable income, but your petition also calls resident parents' income to be used in calculations, but it's not clear how.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
