Petition Action

Stop introduction of photo ID at polling stations

Petition Details

Stop the introduction of mandatory photo ID inspection before voting. According to the Electoral Commission, the country “has low levels of proven electoral fraud”; in 2019 there was just one conviction and one police caution for impersonating another voter - source The Guardian

Additional Information

No issue of voter fraud has been identified so this move is not necessary and will only result in lower election turn out. The people most likely to be adversely affected by the introduction of photo I'd would be the poor and the young. The move amounts to voter suppression and is therefore undemocratic
