Re-evaluate CCP China's status as a developing country
Debate whether to support the US and Japan in getting CCP China's developing country status re-evaluated and release an official statement making clear the UKs stance on the matter.
CCP China is using its status as a developing country to avoid taking responsibility for its carbon emissions. Despite being the second largest world economy and being the lead emitter of greenhouse gasses globally, CCP China refuse to make a decarbonisation push on the grounds that it is a developing country. This problem affects not only the health of people in China and its neighbouring countries but impacts the global climate crisis exponentially.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about China's status as a "developing country", but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
Decisions about whether a country has the status of a "developing country" are a matter for individual members of the World Trade Organisation, not the Government or House of Commons.
We could accept a petition calling on the Government to challenge China's status a "developing country", if that's what you want to happen.
