Cap Rent to 30% of income

Additional Information

Capping private housing rent to 30% of the average take home pay will:

Make living in a home a right for everyone and not profit uncaring landlords.

With affordable living people can spend their money to improve the quality of their life how they choose and therefore invest in products and services they like.

In the long term with cheaper rents houses will not be bagged by landlords and will be available for sale to people who actually want to live in an area.

Over the last 20 years high house prices have not been the solution to cheaper rents or more affordable better quality housing. We must take action to stop investment benefiting the few and create future housing that benefits everyone.

What the stats say:

In five years since April 2007, prices have risen by 18%, while average earnings have gone up by just 10%.
