Petition Action

Create secure/well paid jobs by relaxing redundancy and early retirement rules.

Petition Details

We want the government to relax the rules on redundancy where applied to early retirement.
The government need to allow voluntary redundancies to happen from employment where the job remains viable.

Additional Information

Relaxing the rules surrounding redundancy on the grounds of early retirement the government can free up 100,000's of secure, well paid jobs in both the public and private sectors. Jobs that currently workers can't afford to vacate but could with the right incentives.
We believe that this would also prevent the increased and expected burden on the tax payer as unemployment numbers will be suppressed and instead of creating huge increases in welfare budgets funding will be passed to pension funds.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you want the Government to enable people to voluntarily leave their jobs early, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Businesses are already able to offer financial incentives to employees in order for them to resign or retire early. It is up to indiviudal businesses whether to offer such incentives, and for individual employees whether to take these.

If there are specific statutory rules regarding redundancy or early retirement that you want to be changed, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what changes you would like the Government or Parliament to make to these.
