Petition Action

A National Day of Mourning for children who died.

Petition Details

Designate a calendar date , whereby all the loss of young life can be remembered on a day that the public can reflect on.

Additional Information

Because as a nation . we owe it to the innocents who were taken from their families , a day set aside to honour their memory. I am not asking for a Public Holiday , but a National Day of Reflection to cherish each lost child as a collective memory in the hearts of the nation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

It is up to individuals how to mourn, and outside of creating a bank holiday or providing funding for memorial services this is not something the Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
