Save the UK's travel industry!
Introduce an immediate grant scheme for all travel agents or Extend the leisure grants to cover them. Extend the Covid 19 closure grants paid every month until a credible plan to reopen is in place. Freeze Covid loans & a specific travel only furlough scheme. Scrap Traffic light scheme.
Travel companies, including agents, operators, airports, airlines, handlers, engineers, car parks, and the rest of the supply chain, only get paid when people travel. If no one travels, there is no income. Estimates suggest 100k+ jobs will go by September.
Agents are mainly family businesses built up over decades. There has been no income for over a year. The traffic light scheme is a mess of the Govs own making and makes no sense.
