Make anti-racist training mandatory for all MPs
The UK is suffering from a racist endemic. Racist acts are on the rise & politicians aren’t innocent. Labour’s antisemitism report has highlighted how politics is part of the issue. MPs must take anti-racist training to help counter this problem & bring about a fairer society, starting from the top.
MPs are the 650 individuals who are responsible for creating & changing laws in the UK. Hence, racial bias could have a profound impact on laws around discrimination & racist acts.
Anti-racist training must be a necessary requirement for all sitting MPs. It could be in the form of unconscious bias training, or another method, but this change needs to be made.
We must work to eliminate all racism. So, reducing racist biases in MPs is a great stepping stone along the road to a better society.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because this would be a decision for individual MPs and not the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.
You could start a petition calling for the Government or Parliament to fund or make such training available, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
You might also want to know that MPs (and other staff in Parliament) have been invited to take part in Valuing Everyone training. You can find out more here:
