10 years for causing death by dangerous driving or over the drink drive limit.
Too many short sentences are given which do not reflect the seriousness of the crime of killing somebody just because the perpetrator is driving a car. This needs to be redressed if a meaningful deterrant is to be effective.
Time and time again I see reports in the press and media where a driver is convicted of causing death by dangerous driving or driving while intoxicated. The sentence is rarely more than a few years. It's disappointing that this is somehow considered "justice".
