Introduce specific education in secondary school to educate about domestic abuse
We would like the Government to make Domestic Abuse a key feature within the curriculum. To allow children to spot the signs of abuse and seek help and support from the appropriate bodies. By spotting the signs of abuse early, help and support can be given much quicker.
Thousands of children are suffering in abusive households due to many factors, one being a lack of knowledge and thus behaviours being normalized in the home. Children are suffering due to a lack of knowledge and awareness of the various forms of abuse and therefore cannot seek the support and help they desperately require until it it too late. Early intervention can help children to seek support and reduce the impact of the abuse.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government's new Relationships and Sex Education curriculum, which is mandatory in all state schools from this year, requires that students are now taught about the concepts of, and laws relating to, sexual consent, sexual exploitation, abuse, grooming, coercion, harassment, rape, domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour-based violence and FGM, and how these can affect current and future relationships: www.gov.uk/government/publications/relationships-education-relationships-and-sex-education-rse-and-health-education/relationships-and-sex-education-rse-secondary
