Ban accounts on social media promoting the sale of knives and other blades.

Petition Details

Ban accounts that promote the sale of Blades and other weapons on social media.

A national movement to encourage young people to turn in blades to people such as the police or the local council.

Include the dangers of blades in PSHE curriculum for all students.

Additional Information

As we have seen in the past few days ; more and more people are losing their lives to knife crime. There are a series of reasons as to why this is happening and one of those reasons could be due to the fact that the sale of blades are being promoted on sites such as instagram which is easily accessible to young people who are usually the victims and the offenders of knife crime.

The reason behind this petition is to stop the promotion and sale of these blades so young people can feel safe.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This would be a decision for social media providers.

You could start a petition calling for advertising of knives and bladed articles to be made illegal, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
