Family allowance to be fair for all families
Family allowance needs reform. A couple can currently earn £50,000 each (i.e. £100,000 in total) and still receive full family allowance. For a couple where one person is not earning/on a low wage but the other is earning £60,000 or more they are not entitled to anything.
Family allowance is grossly unfair to families where someone earns very little or nothing and their partner earns over £60,000. The scheme should be reformed to allow a mechanism to transfer the allowance so this is fair and based on total family income.
