DNA testing for Child Maintenance Payments to go ahead with COVID restrictions
The Government/ Parliament should allow for DNA testing at GP surgeries from Child Maintenance Services to be deemed as an essential medical service during COVID 19 restrictions and lockdowns.
Multiple parents and innocent children are waiting and some struggling because no DNA testing is going ahead through Child Maintenance Services due to it not being classed “essential” during COVID restrictions. This medical service should absolutely go ahead to stop vulnerable children suffering. This money from the non paying parent will contribute towards household bills, food, nappies, creams, toys, babies / children’s development. Covid should not stop a child receiving their human rights.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the impact of Covid-19 on DNA testing relating to child maintenance, but most medical services have been exempt from Covid-19 restrictions throughout the pandemic, and it does not appear that the Government prevented testing of this type during the pandemic.
How the companies involved in doing DNA testing changed their operations over the pandemic is a matter for individual companies, not the Government or House of Commons.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
