Petition Action

Require Ministers found breaching the Ministerial Code be dismissed

Petition Details

The Government should establish an independent body to investigate alleged breaches of the Ministerial Code. If a Minister is found guilty of breach they must be removed from office.

Additional Information

To reverse the decline in standards of behaviour in public office and end the Prime Minister’s discretion to pardon or ignore such findings. The procedure should also apply to all Ministers, including the Prime Minister.

There should be a limitation period of five years for any suspected breech to be referred to the independent body.
