Retain stamp duty holiday for those that have purchased STC as at 30th June 2021
Allow a retention of stamp duty holiday arrangements for purchasers who have had an offer accepted on a new primary home and are at the status of sold subject to contract (STC) as at the date of 30th June 2021 (i.e. end of the main period of stamp duty holiday).
This would allow people who sold their homes to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday to successfully do so. As there is a backlog of conveyancing cases this has led to many missing out.
It is reconised ongoing extensions are not feasible economically and they will continue to create an ongoing cycle where extensions are called for. The suggested approach here will avoid any further cycles like this but allow those in the process to get the advantage they moved forward on the basis of.
